What is Kuramae Shrine?
The official name of Kuramae Shrine is “Ishimizu Hachimangu” (Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine), and it was founded in the 6th year of Genroku (1693).
The shrine was originally built by Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the fifth shogun of the Edo Shogunate, who commissioned a shrine spirit from Ishimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto.
藏前神社とは？
藏前神社の正式な社号は「石清水八幡宮（いわしみずはちまんぐう）」といい、元禄6年（1693年）に創建されました。
江戸幕府第5代将軍徳川綱吉が、京都の石清水八幡宮から分霊を勧請したのが始まりです。
Mimosa and early-blooming cherry blossoms
Kuramae Shrine is especially famous for the competition between early-blooming cherry trees and mimosa (mimosa) trees, which are in full bloom from around late February.
The bright yellow mimosa trees blooming in the shrine grounds and the pretty pink early-blooming cherry blossoms create a truly spectacular scene! It is said to be one of the most beautiful in Tokyo.

ミモザと早咲き桜の競演
藏前神社で特に有名なのは、2月下旬頃から見頃を迎える早咲き桜とミモザの競演です。
境内に咲き誇る鮮やかな黄色いミモザと、可憐なピンク色の早咲き桜が織りなす風景は、まさに絶景！都内でも屈指の美しさと言われています。

Stage of rakugo story “Motoinu
Kuramae Shrine is also known as the stage for the rakugo story “Moto-Inu,” and many visitors to the shrine are familiar with the statue of the dog that appears in the rakugo story on the shrine grounds.
The rakugo story “Moto-Inu” is about a white stray dog that wishes to take the form of a human and after 21 days of barefooted visits, his wish is granted.
However, even in human form, the dog’s habits remained, and in the end, the dog mistook the word “roast” for “bark” and said “Woof! The humorous ending is waiting for you.
落語「元犬」の舞台
藏前神社は、落語「元犬」の舞台としても知られていて、境内には落語に登場する犬の像があり、多くの参拝客に親しまれています。
落語「元犬」は、藏前八幡の境内にいた白い野良犬が、人間の姿になりたいと願い、21日間の裸足参りの末に願いを叶えるという物語です。
しかし、人間の姿になっても犬の習性が抜けず、最後は「焙炉（ホイロ）」を「吼えろ」と勘違いして「ワン！」と言ってしまうという、ユーモラスなオチが待っています。
