Just a stone’s throw from the famous Gotokuji Temple, known for its maneki-neko (lucky cats), RARASAND is a hidden gem that blends a cozy café, takeout spot, and art gallery all in one. ☕🎨✨ A must-visit for coffee lovers and art enthusiasts alike!

I bought some lucky cat monaka from a shop. They’re called “Shucho Shi Sugiru Monaka® Lucky Cat of MONAKA”.It’s a funny name, isn’t it?

The set includes six monaka wafers, one each of the following colors: pink, white, yellow, green, a light brown color (representing a lightly toasted wafer), and a darker brown color (representing a deeply toasted wafer). Accompanying the wafers are six portions of filling: two portions of azuki red bean paste (known as ogura-an), two portions of matcha (powdered green tea) flavored bean paste, and two portions of sakura (cherry blossom) flavored bean paste.

Here’s how you eat it: First, take one monaka wafer. Then, squeeze the filling out of the provided packet or container onto the flat side of the wafer. Finally, take another wafer and carefully place it on top of the filling to form a small sandwich. You can then enjoy your monaka.

I made a pink monaka with cherry blossom filling, and it’s absolutely adorable!
