Located about 40 minutes from Tokyo Station on Matsuchiyama Shoden, a 10-meter-high hill on the west bank of the Sumida River in Asakusa, Matsuchiyama Shoden, officially called Honryuin, is one of the smaller temples attached to Senso-ji Temple.

The most distinctive feature of this temple is the daikon (Japanese radish)!
Why daikon at a temple? You may be wondering, “Why daikon at a temple?” However, this is a temple where daikon is offered as an offering, and those who wish to receive daikon as a gift are allowed to do so.
Daikon daikon offerings are sold at the shrine office.
When I went there, they were 300 yen per piece.

I took the purchased daikon to the main shrine.
There are daikon motifs on the building of the main shrine and here and there in the precincts of the shrine.
After offering daikon to the main shrine, you can get “OSAGARI daikon” in front of the small building on the right, which you can take home to cook and eat.

By the way, have you ever heard of “OHYAKUDO-MAIRI”?
OHYAKUDO-MAIRI means to visit the same shrine or temple a hundred times to pray to the gods and Buddha.
It is said that by repeatedly praying to the gods and Buddha, one’s wishes will be fulfilled.
For the hyakudo visit here, a convenient tool was set up to count the number of times.
To use it: (1) Align all the rings on either side. (2) Move the ring back and forth between the stone on the opposite side of the stone and the stone, and for each round trip, move one of the smaller rings on the lower level to the opposite side. When all the rings in the lower row have been moved after 10 round trips, move one of the larger rings in the upper row to the opposite side. After 10 round trips, move one of the larger rings in the upper row to the opposite side. (5) Repeat this process until all the rings in the upper row have been moved to the opposite side (100 round trips).

During the 100 rounds, keep your concentration and do not talk to others. If someone is visiting the temple, please pass by quietly so as not to disturb them.

Also, as described earlier, Mt.
It is a pleasant area with a view of Sky Tree from the trees at the top.
However, some people may have a hard time with stairs and climbing up and down.
But don’t worry! There is a small rail connecting to the top of the hill.
Anyone can use it, so don’t hesitate to ask for a ride.
